Baseflow Forecasts

Streamflow forecasts for persistently dry conditions are available at more than 7,000 locations in the United States (sources: USGS; Washington Department of Ecology). The forecasts generated by the Base Flow Separation (BFS) model, which simulates the recession of streamflow from a recently observed value. The forecast represents "baseflow", which is the reliable component of streamflow typically generated by groundwater discharge, snow/ice melt, or outflow from lakes and reservoirs.

Select a major river basin to view a map with forecast locations, then select a point on the map for a forecast of streamflow at the location for a dry weather scenario (no rain, decreasing snowmelt). View map with all sites (be patient while it loads).
